The topic for this week’s photography assignment is “Oceans.”
I was hoping to see a good mix of submissions from others in the photography group, thinking the ocean makes such a constant and fun subject to capture, even if it’s only when we’re on holidays somewhere near a coastline, as not all of us are fortunate to be able to live near an ocean year round. Oh well. C’est la vie.
Anyway, here are my four submissions for this assignment:
Oceans #1 – (Archived; August 2011) One view of the Atlantic Ocean along Rustico Beach on the north shore of Prince Edward Island, Canada. Although an older photo, I wanted to show the characteristic dark red colour of the soil and sand famous to the Island…..together with the colour of the ocean water….a unique combination.
Oceans #2 – (Archived: November 2017) – Pacific Ocean. I LOVE water. Oceans, Lakes, Rivers, Brooks, Ponds……haha! And on a walkabout in these areas, I simply MUST – weather and terrain permitting – take my shoes off and play footsies with the water. So, here, the waves are coming in at Tauranga Bay, South island, New Zealand…..the bottom of my pants are getting wetter. 🙂
Oceans #3 – (Archived; May 2016) – A view from the island of Heimaey, Iceland, of some of the smaller islands in the Vestmannaeyjar Archipelago in the North Atlantic Ocean. The waters were mostly calm that day.
Oceans #4 – (Archived; November 2017) – Pacific Ocean. The tide is low. And it’s curious to see those taller, more energetic curving waves further off in the distance and then see this wiggly, jiggly foamy white line, created as a sheet of smooth water glides on over the smooth wet sand.
And the smooth and moist sand keeps reflecting the clouds in the sky. 🙂
Taken at the Mangawhai Heads, North Island, New Zealand.
