A Different Type of Harp Music

For a classic Christmas season tune….I offer for your listening pleasure the well-known Sugar Plum Fairy by Tchaikovsky…..but played quite differently.

Have you heard the beautiful music that is created by playing on glass harps?  Yes!  Delicate glasses of varying sizes that are filled with specific amounts of water and when the edges of the glasses are played, they give musical tones.  It sounds akin to the traditional harp, and the hand and finger motions are somewhat similar in the smooth and flowing motions of a harp player.

Crazy cool stuff!

Absolutely astounding delicate sounds, as well as deeper sounds, and wonderful dynamics.

Have a listen!

These two performers – GlassDuo – are playing in what looks like a beautiful and acoustically rich venue….the Basilica of Santo Stefano.

    1. Hahaha! Cool! Thank you so much for adding on your link to this post. 🙂 Hopefully more people to share this beautiful music with! And it’s the first time I’ve seen a blogging “link.” So far I’ve seen some “reblogs.” You helped me see something new on wordpress – thank you! 🙂

I would love to hear your thoughts about this
