Busy little ants

Get sweet nectar and help the

Peony to bloom.

  1. Someone let me know that the “assisted blooming” is an old wives’ tale. So, I just checked a couple of garden/flower-related sources, and the ants are definitely after the nectar; however, they don’t assist in the blooming, BUT because they are in effect “patrolling” over the peonies – mostly for the nectar – they will probably attack any other insect that tries to get to the peonies and thus…..afford some protection to the plant from prospective bug invaders. Still seems to be a good arrangement all in all. 🙂
