Lilac blossoms open,
Rushed along by the impatient spring warmth.
Petals open to display their light purple hues
And joyously release the unmistakably familiar scent
Of their always welcome and much-loved fragrance.
There is no overpowering, nor subduing….
The lilac’s hint of sweetness greets my nose
Saying, “Remember me? I have returned. Let’s be together!”
A gentle embrace, an enticement,
An invitation to stop a while and nestle among the flower clusters,
Close my eyes and dream.
